Presented by OCAD U Alumni Relations in partnership with CareerJoy.com

This free alumni career and networking event will feature an inspiring keynote address by Alan Kearns, Head Coach & Founder of CareerJoy, who will then moderate a guided discussion with a panel of OCAD U alumni from various disciplines and sectors around the topic of building a creative career.  Panelists will first speak on their career path since graduating and then participate in the moderated discussion. There will be an open floor Q+A session, followed by a reception for panelists and attendees to mingle and network.  There is no cost to attend this event but RSVP is required. Please register below.

About Alan Kearns
Alan Kearns, Canada's Career Coach and CareerJoy founder, Globe & Mail career expert, Chapters/Indigo Trusted Advisor and author of Get the Right Job Right Now! is one of Canada's leading authorities on career management issues. Voted one of the "Top 40 Under 40" entrepreneurs, Alan is a regular contributor to Canadian media on the latest trends in the Canadian workforce. He has appeared on "Till Debt Do U$ Part", "Princess", "Canada AM", "BT", "The National" & "The Hour". He is the featured career expert on the current OWN reality show  "Million Dollar Neighbourhood".  

About the Alumni Panelists:
Cliff Caines
(AOCAD, Integrated Media, 2002) is a filmmaker and artist based in Toronto. His films are varied, including narrative, stop-motion animation, documentary, and installation approaches; and have exhibited in international festivals throughout Europe and the Americas. Caines’ work has received support from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, and the National Film Board of Canada. Cain also has a MFA from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University.

Patricia Homonylo (AOCA, 1991) received her BA in Art History from UofT, was honoured with an AOCA medal, and completed her MFA from Concordia University.  She choose the freelance life and has worked as an exhibiting artist, an art consultant to the CIBC, run art tours in Europe for Butterfield and Robinson Travel, and in set decoration to the Toronto film industry. Her current endeavours keep her busy as a script supervisor in commercial film production and as an Art Instructor in Oakville.  She is just returning from South Africa where she has been shooting for her art practice, and will be exhibiting this fall in the international art exhibition  "Common Thread"  taking place in Oakville and Toronto.

Danica Loncar
(AOCAD, Drawing & Painting, 1992) is Owner, Director and Curator of Art Works Art School and Gallery. A painter and teacher, Loncar was represented by Nancy Poole’s Studio in Yorkville for many years and has participated in numerous juried shows, group shows and solo exhibitions.  She has been featured in various publications and interviewed on radio and television. The mandate of Loncar's community-based art school and gallery is to introduce children, teens and adults to the enriching world of art and design. 

Yshia Wallace
(Class of 2009) is a Toronto based artist whose practice includes painting, sculpture and animation. In addition to her studies at OCAD U, Wallace has a BA in English Literature from McGill. She worked in the documentary production industry before pursuing an art practice. In her current body of work Wallace explores the biological and psychological impulses that drive human behavior.
