Indianapolis Chapter CSI April Chapter Meeting:Value Engineering Through Code Analysis

This will be a 1-hour presentation on how the proper and complete application of Building and Fire code sections can be used to reduce the overall cost of development projects. We will explore "real" examples of how code sections were used to change the application of the development codes in ways that; reduced construction types, eliminated high-rise provisions, reduced fire protection elements, and kept existing non-compliance issues from killing projects. 

The participants will derive four objectives from this presentation:

1. Learn how reductions in construction type can be applied for maximum cost benefit to a project.
2. Better understand how to resolve existing non-compliant code issues without killing the project.
3. Learn where & how to draw the line between safe code application, and loopholes that could endanger life safety.
4. See several examples of how these techniques were applied, and what benefits were derived.
