Equal Justice University 2012

Equal Justice University is the statewide training and networking conference for Tennessee’s access to justice community.  This three-day event at scenic Paris Landing State Park brings together all those who work to increase access to justice among Tennessee’s low-income population.   Join legal aid professionals, pro bono attorneys, members of the judiciary, and other leaders for EJU 2012.

Once again, the conference is an excellent opportunity to earn a full 15 hours of CLE credit while networking and relaxing with colleagues.  As a member of the “Class of 2012” you can increase your knowledge and skills to make you a better advocate for  your clients and to overcome barriers in your work. The program will encourage participants to seek new and creative avenues to providing access to justice.

Call for Nominations 

TALS is pleased to announce its annual CALL FOR NOMINATIONS for the 2012 B. Riney Green Award and the 2012 New Advocate of the Year Award.

The B. Riney Green Award is given to the individual(s) who demonstrates significant achievement in promoting inter-program cooperation and strengthens access to justice statewide in Tennessee.

The New Advocate of the Year Award recognizes affirmative, energetic, effective advocacy by an advocate who has been with his or her program less than five years.

EJU Law Student Program 

Though EJU is already the premier training and networking opportunity for our state’s access to justice community, each year we work hard to further enhance our programming. This year is no exception.

In 2012, it is our goal to make EJU even more accessible to law students than ever. In collaboration with the TBA’s Access to Justice Committee’s Law School Sub-Committee, we are reaching out to encourage law student attendance, to include networking opportunities for law students at EJU, and to ensure conference training topics meet students’ interests. The student rate for EJU attendance is $100.

EJU Fees

In determining which level to which you should register, please note that an Advocate registrant is a staff person from a low-income legal advocacy program, Social Worker or NASW member, law student, pro bono volunteer, legal aid client, and TALS Task Force member.

• $100 :: Student Fee
• $130 :: 1-Day for Regular
• $80 :: 1-Day for Advocate
• $50 :: Single CLE Session
