Indianapolis Chapter CSI January Chapter Meeting: NFPA 285 

This presentation will describe the history of the NFPA 285 test and discuss the test itself as it relates to local, national and international code bodies. The discussion will review the current IBC and IEEC codes requirements and the perceived conflict created.  Additionally, we will review some of the current approved assemblies which meet the requirements.

  

Scott is the President and founder of Arxtheon Consulting, Inc., a small regionally based architectural consulting firm focusing on code review, plan review, project management and owner’s representation services for a wide variety of clients.  Scott holds his architectural license in Indiana and has been practicing Architecture for over 20 years in Texas, Illinois and Indiana.  He is a LEED Accredited Professional and is a Certified Contract Specifier and Certified Construction Contract Administrator as recognized by The Construction Specifications Institute.  Scott also served at the Indiana State Building Commissioner from 2009-11, with responsibilities which included the leadership for state plan review and building & fire code enforcement for new and existing Class I structures.  Additionally he helped develop the I-BEAM Disaster Response team which combined the efforts of building inspectors and design professionals to help respond to natural disasters that might occur in the State of Indiana.  During his tenure with the State of Indiana, Scott obtained his International Code Council Certifications as a Plans Examiner and Building Official.  Upon completion of his duties, he formed the consulting firm Arxtheon Consulting, Inc. located in Indianapolis which serves design professionals, building owners, facility managers, contractors, manufacturers and other groups involved in the building industry.  He currently serves as a representative for AIA Indiana on the proposed 2013 Indiana Building Code Review Committee.  Scott is also the 2004-05 Past President of the Indianapolis CSI Chapter.
