Indianapolis Chapter CSI March Chapter Meeting: Paint

Learning Objectives:

To provide an informative discussion on MPI (Master Painters Institute). Not here to promote the methods, but rather provide an unbiased opinion.

Like most building product systems, paint is specified through the use of one or more industry standard systems. We’ll talk briefly about the different systems developed and used in the US.

MPI standards have rapidly emerged as a major new standard for specifying paint. We’ll look at who MPI is, how that change has happened, and some of the challenges MPI poses for specifiers.

Most important, we’ll walk through the method of specifying paint using MPI standards step by step, and look at how MASTERSPEC is now utilizing MPI standards in their updated Paint sections.
