Beginning Contemplative Prayer

Deepening Our Relationship With God
Through Centering Prayer

Led by:  Sr. Joyce Cox B.V.M., Paul Peterhans M.Div, and Dr. Rebecca Cortes

  Cox Peterhans Cortes

St. Gregory the Great (6th century) in summarizing the Christian contemplative tradition expressed it as “resting in God.” This was the classical meaning of Contemplative Prayer in the Catholic tradition for the first sixteen centuries.  This mostly-silent retreat is designed for persons interested in beginning the practice of contemplative prayer.  It will be an opportunity to learn more about centering prayer and deepen one’s desire and commitment to live a contemplative life.

Recommended for those who are new to the practice of contemplative prayer/centering prayer/Christian meditation.

What to bring: Each room is simply furnished, and comes with sheets, towels & soap. You will need to bring your own shampoo & other toiletries; comfortable clothes, a notebook & pen and anything else that will help you to feel comfortable and at home at the retreat center. Our guest rooms do not have telephones or TV’s.

Meals: Our generous meals are served buffet style in our dining room overlooking Puget Sound. The retreat will begin on Friday evening with registration from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM (Dinner at 6:00) and end at 1:00 PM on Sunday following lunch. Special dietary requirements can be met if you make your needs known to our kitchen staff.

Price: The fee for the retreat is $199 per-person (single room) and $165 per-person (double room). Price includes all presentations, six meals, and two nights in a comfortable room with private bath. Scholarships are available. If you need to cancel your retreat due to illness or other circumstances, please contact Helen Nguyen at (206) 748-7991. Retreat payments are non-refundable.
