The Grace of Turning it Over
The Gifts in the 12 Steps

Led by:  Fr. Jim Harbaugh S.J. and Dr. Mary Cross, Ph.D.

The Eleventh Step, in both A.A. and Al-Anon, reads, “Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.” This retreat is a wonderful opportunity to work on this step. This will be a faith sharing retreat with large group presentations, small group discussions, communal prayer, and time for individual prayer and contemplation. There will be ample opportunity to take advantage of the Palisades setting to enjoy the beauty of nature.

About Fr. Harbaugh and Dr. Cross:

Fr. Jim Harbaugh, S.J. has been a member of the Jesuit Order for 49 years and a priest for 26. He taught for many years at the Jesuit universities in Denver and Seattle.  He first taught English and Humanities: he has a doctorate in the Victorian Novel from the University of Chicago.  Later he taught Addictions counseling: he has been a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor and has been otherwise active in working with addictions, especially 12 Step Retreats, for 29 years.  Most recently, he has worked in parishes in Seattle and Tacoma.  He is the author of two books on the 12 Steps, including A Twelve Step Approach to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.

Dr. Mary Cross Ph.D. is the Archbishop’s Delegate for Catholic Faith Formation in the Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle. She is responsible for the development of the Catechist Certification Program and the implementation of a new religion curriculum for K-8 schools and parishes. Dr. Cross has a wealth of teach and training experience, and has presented and given spiritual consultation with 12 Step Retreats since 1994. She also has experience in Spiritual Direction through Seattle University.
