Indianapolis Chapter CSI March Meeting:

The Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA)

Note: This month's meeting will once again be held at the Marten House Hotel and Lilly Conference Center. Please take a moment to register for this meeting, if you plan on attending.

This presentation provides a brief history of air barriers and the Air Barrier Association of America. The Association has focused on two key objectives which has been education and site quality assurance. The value proposition of using ABAA as part of your project specifications will be shown and discussed. The presentation addresss that even though air barriers are starting to be a requirement of local building codes, you do want the air barrier system to perform as intended rather than simply meeting the code.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the components which make up a air barrier system
  • Outline the differences between an air barrier, vapor barrier and water resistive barrier
  • Explain how a site quality assurance program benefits the building owner
  • Show the benefits of installing an air barrier system in a building
