First Workshop, Option 1

Investing for a Better Tomorrow

Speaker: Gene Potes

Description: From 401(k)s to IRAs to choosing investments, retirement can definitely seem complicated. But with a few easy to follow tips, your accounts will be a lot easier to manage. Learn the basics of investing, including which account is right for you, how to pick the best investments for your goals and how to minimize fees and taxes in the long run.

First Workshop, Option 2:

The Architecture of Experience  "Designing for People, Designing for Profitability”

Speaker: Marc Bolick and Joel Van Dyke

Description:  Design is about purposefully meeting human needs. Great design of spaces goes beyond just meeting needs, it creates a sense of delight, inspires creativity and stimulates collaboration. Getting to great isn’t something to happens by chance, it is done through deep understanding of stakeholders, what they value, how they interact with each other and their surroundings, their desires and aspirations.

Our keynote will be provided by Joel Van Dyke and Marc Bolick, partners at DesignThinkers Group. The duo will outline the cognitive components of how we perceive our environment, and how design thinking principles and tools can be used to create engaging customer experiences. They will cover examples across different industries where they have applied these cross-disciplinary design principles.

DesignThinkers Group is an innovation agency that helps organizations design innovative customer experiences and find solutions to complex problems. Spring Hospitality Forum :

Supporting Emerging Work Patterns in Hotel Spaces

Speaker: Anita Holland

Description: Using our human-centered design research process, Steelcase completed an in-depth study on the hotel industry as it relates to 3rd place work.  The study included an observational study of public spaces, collaborative spaces and guest rooms and how these spaces provided for 3rd place work.  Hotels currently have an opportunity to support the business traveler in new ways.  We will share our insights, observations, design principles and thought starters to inspire the design thinking to support work in the hotel.

Second Workshop, Option 1

The New ADA Standard Highlights

 Speaker: Beverly Vosko

Description: A stampede of baby boomers are rapidly approaching 75 and when they do, the number of people over 75 is projected to triple in size. Additionally, more people are disabled than ever before and all these people’s needs must be addressed.  On September 15th 2010, the Department of Justice published revised enforceable accessibility regulations for the Americans with Disabilities Act, setting new minimum requirements. This course provides an overview of those 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design and teaches designers how to design spaces that comply with those 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design.

Second Workshop, Option 2:

How To Be An Effective Networker

Speaker: Jean Russell

Description: Does a ballroom full of strangers scare you? Or a lunch table with one seat left and no familiar faces? Jean Russell's interactive workshop will provide some simple ways to build your confidence, arm you with engaging communication tools, and grow your business relationships.
