On Thursday, August 20th, the Field to Vase Dinner goes decidedly urban -- and you're invited!

Our venue: the Brooklyn Grange's Navy Yard Farm. Yes, it's located atop Building No. 3 at the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard, a massive, 65,000-square-foot roof towering twelve stories over the East River.

Brookyn Grange's Navy Yard Farm

With two rooftop vegetable farms totaling 2.5 acres and producing over 50,000 pounds of organically-grown vegetables each year, the Brooklyn Grange is a commercial urban farm.

The Grange sells its produce directly to the community from several weekly farm stands, as well as to several local restaurants and retail stores. It also supplies a 40-member CSA program from Mid-May through October and operates an apiary with over 30 naturally-managed honey bee hives located on roofs throughout NYC.

The Field to Vase Dinner Tour celebrates the Brooklyn Grange mission, which includes this philosophy:

"We want farming to become a thriving and viable industry in cities, and we believe that by practicing urban agriculture as a fiscally sustainable business, we can prove that it is worthy of investment."

And YES, they have flowers!!!

Flowers grow high up on this roof, as well. The Grange's flower CSA includes a loosely-arranged, seasonal bouquet of 20-30 stems each week, wrapped in paper. The flowers are organically grown and freshly cut the day of pickup, ensuring days and days of freshness for the lucky recipients.

As you take your seat at the table, you'll be surrounded by the hyper local food and flowers grown at the Brooklyn Grange.

Guest Designer: Molly Oliver Culver

We're thrilled that Brooklyn-based farmer-florist Molly Oliver Culver of Molly Oliver Flowers will be our guest designer for the Field to Vase Dinner.

Her floral designs are seasonally-inspired. They capture a lovely moment in time that is expressed by fragrant, ephemeral botanicals.

You'll enjoy every amazing course of your evening as a guest at the Field to Vase Dinner in Brooklyn! Bring your camera because the sights here are out of this world. The food will excite your palate and the flowers will fill you with joy.

Each guest will enjoy a gourmet, four-course, farm-to-fork meal, sip beverages with a distinct local pedigree, and take home a floral arrangement as a symbolic memento of the evening's theme: Celebrating American Grown Flowers.

You won't want to miss this evening of flowers, food, friendship - and a focus on local agriculture in our country.
