Fostering Success Michigan Annual Summit Pre-Conference:

Fostering Success Coach Training:  Level I

Space is very limited! Register today!

The FSM Annual Summit Pre-conference: Fostering Success Coach Training: Level I is an opportunity for professionals to engage in a 3-day CEU approved training aimed to increase skills in working directly with young adults who have experienced foster care.

The Fostering Success (FS) Coach model of practice provides a framework for professionals to offer integrative support to students from foster care preparing for or enrolled in post-secondary education. The Fostering Success Coaching model can be applied as a full program of support or adapted as a core skill set to professionals providing support to young people who have experienced foster care and/or adverse childhood experiences (ACE) during key transition periods to post-secondary education, and from post-secondary graduation to career.

During training, coaches receive:

  • Comprehensive skills training for individuals working with students who have experienced foster care and/or ACEs who are pursuing post-secondary education.
  • The Fostering Success Coaching Toolkit, including a training workbook, exclusive access to the FS Coach Portal, and access to the FS Coach Community Forums.

Upon completion of the training, a Fostering Success Coach will be able to:

  • Dynamically understand the experience of foster care
  • Use methods to partner with students to build interdependent relationships, allowing the professional to “do with” instead of “do for”
  • Build student capacity by using methods for increasing knowledge, cultivating awareness, and teaching skills
  • Identify and reinforce behavior and skills that are assets for student growth and progress towards graduation and career transition
  • Use assessment skills to track and document progress in the seven life domains

CEU Approved!
