Concrete Curing and Protection /

Concrete Restoration Basics

 

The Indianapolis Chapter of CSI , in conjunction with ICRI (International Concrete Repair Institute), is holding an education seminar at the Willows on Westfield on Thursday, April 16, from 2:30 - 5:00 pmAttendees will receive 1 AIA HSW LU's. Thanks to ICRI, there will be no fee for this eduation seminar. 
 
There will two presenations at this seminar.
The first presentation is entitled "Concrete Curing & Long Term Moisture Protection" This presentation will explain why it is importatn to cure concrete. What are the benefits? What are the risks of not doing it? This presenation will cover the correct applicaitn and how to avoid common mistakes. It will also cover long term concrete protection from the effects of freeze thaw damage. The presenter is Paul Smith, VP of Research & Development at ChemMasters in Madison, OH. 
The second presenation is entitled "Concrete Restoration Basics". This presenation will outline a generic view of concrete repair. It will cover causes for concrete deterioration, surface preparation, geometric shapes of the repair area, and material types available. The presenter is Andrew Fulkerson, Technical Manager for MAPEI.

About the Presenters:

Paul Smith is Vice President of Research & Development at ChemMasters, Madison, Ohio. He holds a M.S. degree in Organic Polymer Science and is studying Civil Engineering Technology currently. He has over 30 years’ experience formulating with thermoset, thermoplastic and emulsion polymers as applied to the formulation of curing compounds for concrete and pavement and specialty coatings and flooring compositions for concrete. His principal research interests lie in new reactive polymers and emulsions for use in curing and sealing compounds, high-performance coatings and concrete/masonry protection.

  Andrew Fulkerson is the Technical Manager for the Concrete Restoration Systems Division of MAPEI.  Andrew has nearly 17 years of experience in the concrete repair and concrete admixture businesses. Andrew’s past experiences include working for Master Builder’s (BASF) and The Euclid Chemical Company.  A member of ICRI, Andrew sat on the Technical Activities committee for six consecutive years, is the current chairperson for the Surface Preparation committee, and is a voting member of the Materials and Methods committee.
