COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Saturday offerings 

Ethical Decision Making (3 CE hrs.) Megan Lavery, LMT, Instructor Bring your own ethical questions and dilemmas.  This interactive and fun class will use real case studies to explore a model for ethical decision-making, boundaries, and why you should document your thought process.  An overview of how ethical complaints are handled by boards will be presented, as well as the most common ethical complaints filed against therapists.

Megan Lavery has been dedicated to the field of massage therapy since 1993. She is a therapist, an instructor and an author. Megan teaches classes in Zero Balancing, SEVA Stress Release, Alchemy of Touch, & Ethics. She currently sits on the NCBTMB Ethics & Discipline Committee and has been an integral part of AMTA since 1993. In addition to maintaining her private practice, Megan is currently enrolled in a Master’s of Science Counseling Program at Prescott College.

Goniometry for the Massage Therapist (3 CE hrs.) Lance Nelson, LMT, Instructor This course is the practical application designed for the Licensed Massage Therapist to measure joint range of motion using a goniometer.  The Licensed Massage Therapist should bring their table, wear comfortable clothing which will allow free movement for measurements to take place.  The therapist will use a lab partner to practice and develop clinical skills to use immediately with clients or patients. *Goniometer included with class **TABLE CLASS (limited to 50 participants)

Lance Nelson is an extensively educated Certified Athletic Trainer and Licensed Massage Therapist with over 24 years of hands-on experience and skill in treatment and prevention of athletic injuries and therapeutic and sports massage. He has specialized in Orthopedic/Sports Massage & Myofascial Pain Syndrome. For the last 7 years he has worked as a Post-secondary Anatomy and Physiology/Massage Therapy Instructor.

SEVA Stress Release: Part I Self-Care (3 CE hrs.) Megan Lavery, LMT, Instructor Learn an acupressure protocol (The SEVA Stress Release) that can be used for self-care, addressing a wide range of needs, including general relaxation and well-being or extreme shock and stress. This dynamic and interactive workshop allows the participant to fully experience the SEVA Stress release through demonstration and hands-on practice. Workshop participants learn a unique touch method, various effective acupoints and how to use this protocol for self-care. In this workshop participants learn about the healing and transforming power of acupressure, practice techniques to use for self-care, and learn Chakra Tai Chi. **TABLE CLASS (limited to 50 participants)

Vedic Thai on the Table (6 CE hrs.) Lauren Ward, LMT, Instructor Vedic Thai on the Table is a way to integrate Vedic Thai Yoga massage into any practice. Beyond "Thai massage", this course honors the Prestigious Lineage of the Vedic culture and Traditions for Holistic Wellness and Prosperity. “Nuad Borarn (Vedic Thai Massage-Assisted Asana Postures) is viewed as a martial art of healing and is reported to manifest instant positive results. In Thailand and worldwide, Bodywork is utilized medicinally as a cherished and revered indulgence to remedy the prominent social ailments such as emotional stress and physical inertia. Vedic Massage sessions inspire the soul and tranquilize the body.” ~Michael Buck, founder of the Vedic Conservatory. *This class will be done completely clothed. Please wear comfortable, stretchy, and easy to move in clothing. Anyone can benefit from this work, regardless of yoga experience. **TABLE CLASS (limited to 50 participants)

Lauren Ward has studied intensively with all of the healing arts since 2002, has been teaching at the Lexington Healing Arts Academy, (the only nationally accredited massage school in our country) since 2003.With over 2000 hours of continuing education, in a variety of trainings, Lauren brings a wealth of knowledge to meet any student's needs. All of her experience has added to her practice and quality of touch exponentially. In addition to her basic massage training, Lauren has also completed many Certification programs and holds other titles as well. Including being a Reiki Master Teacher, a Certified Vedic Thai Yoga Massage Teacher, a Certified Zero Balancer, Registered Yoga Teacher, and more.

Introduction to Oncology Massage (6 CE hrs.) Jill Cole, LMT, Instructor Oncology Massage is an up and coming specialty in the massage profession. This course serves to not train the therapist to perform oncology massage, rather offer best practices guidelines for next steps in training in   the field. This course will also touch on the pathophysiology of cancer, emotional components of working with people with cancer, current research in oncology massage, examples of where massage therapists are practicing oncology and further discussion as to why a therapist needs more training to safely touch a person living with cancer. The use of visual aids, guided meditation, lecture and small group activities are used in the 6-hour course.  

Jill Cole is a KY LMT and is Board Certified by the NCBTM. Jill is a 1998 graduate of the Boulder College of Massage Therapy and has served as past-president of the American Massage Therapy Foundation, KY Chapter. Jill teaches a 100-hour, Hospital-Based Oncology Massage Course at LHAA with externship sites available at both Baptist Health Lexington and the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center. Jill serves on the National Education Committee for the Society for Oncology Massage, Southern Pain Society-KY Chapter and the Integrative Medicine Committee, University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center.

Confirmation: If you list an email address you will receive a confirmation letter via email within two weeks of submitting registration.  People without email will receive confirmation via USPS within three weeks.

Refund Policy: All cancellations must be made in writing.  Cancellations on or prior to July 21, 2015 will receive a full refund.  Cancellations received after July 21, 2015 are nonrefundable.

On-site Registration:  You may register onsite on a space available basis.  Lunch cannot be guaranteed since meals must be purchased no later than July 23, 2015.
