2015 Focus Group #2: FUNdraising Events and Community Programming
Trail race? Duck Race? Gala? Hoedown?
Silent Auction? Go-fund-me?
What are some of the fun and creative programs that land trusts are using to enhance fundraising and community support? Are these events successful? Are they fun to plan? Are they fun to attend? What's worth the effort? What's not? How much time should we expect the planning to take, and what is the potential return?
Join us at our second and final Focus Group of 2015 for a frank and lively conversation with your peers about Land Trust FUNdraising Events and Community Programming. Talk about what's working and some pointers/lessons learned. Make connections, build resources, and brainstorm about how to create your most effective development strategy.
Who Should Attend: This focus group will be for any officers, board members, committee chairs, staff or others in your land trust who plan and execute fundraising events and community programming.
Purpose: CLCC’s annual Focus Group Series consists of consultant-led roundtables for Connecticut land trust officers, board members, committee chairs and other volunteers or staff. The purpose of our Focus Group Series is twofold: (i) to provide peer-to-peer networking for a group of individuals serving in a similar capacity in diverse land trusts who otherwise might not get the opportunity to meet and talk; and (ii) to gather information and gain a better understanding of how Connecticut’s land trusts use their boards, staff and volunteers to increase organizational capacity.
Goal: Ultimately we hope to be able to draw conclusions and make recommendations regarding the successes and challenges of land trusts in their volunteer recruitment, as well as the human resource needs of land trusts in order to improve their capacity. We will be producing a written report and will present our findings at the 2016 Connecticut Land Conservation Conference in March.
Food? Of course! Breakfast snacks and light lunch will be provided.
Space is limited to 20 participants.
Please direct any questions to me at abpaterson@ctconservation.org. We hope you will join us for what will definitely be a fun and interesting conversation. And remember, bring your ideas and experiences -- good and bad -- to share.
Very truly yours,
