Join us at FMST's Annual Meeting on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. Registration (and coffee) opens at 9:00 am, so come early to meet other Mountains-to-Sea Trail enthusiasts.

We've planned a fun and fast-paced agenda to help you learn more about trail progress, future projects and how you can get involved.

The agenda includes:

  • Reports on progress to build, maintain and promote the MST
  • Keynote address by thru-hiker Sharon "Mama Goose" Smith, a retired Air Force combat medic who will lead the first Warrior Expedition of veterans on the MST next September. Mama Goose is an inspiring speaker who thru-hiked the MST in 2014 to prepare for this expedition.
  • A workshop for people interested in learning how to hike the trail
  • Presentation and workshop led by Destination by Design to discuss the marketing plan for the MST
  • A panel moderated by Howard Lee sharing different ways the trail can be used for education
  • A workshop showcasing interesting and challenging trail work including recovery from fire damage, difficult stone work and addition of campgrounds
  • Awards for hikers who have completed the trail and for outstanding volunteers
  • Opportunities for you to ask questions and share your views
  • A delicious lunch with old and new friends!

The meeting will be in the Moseley Center on the beautiful campus of Elon University. The meeting, including lunch, will be in the Lakeside Room, which is upstairs in the Center. There is plenty of parking in the lot directly across the street from Moseley Center on North O'Kelly Street, behind the McMichael Science building.  Students will be on campus this year, so expect a bit more congestion as you make your way around campus.  Please do not park in the new parking lot behind the Inman Admissions Visitors Center.  Use this great interactive map and search for McMichael, KBC Parking.  You can also find the Mosely Center easily with this map.

Lunch will be catered by Aramark, Elon's on-campus food service. FMST is working with Aramark to source locally grown foods and use serving products to promote sustainability.

FMST has held a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express for both Friday, February 5th and Saturday, February 6th.  The rate is $89 per night for a room with double queen beds.  The Holiday Inn Express is located at  2701 Longpine Rd, Burlington, NC 27215, and the phone number is (336) 584-4447.  Use the code "Friends of Mountains-to-Sea Trail" when making your reservation.  The rooms have officially been released, but they should still honor the rate.

This meeting is a great way to learn about the MST and about how you can get more involved in our work.

The meeting costs $25 for FMST members, and additional family members can attend for $20 each and $15 for students. Non-members encouraged to attend the meeting at join the FMST for $50, which includes a discounted membership.

RSVPS are required by Tuesday, February 2nd.
