R3 CONTINUUM: Critical Incident Response Training to be an EAP Provider 

This is a NON-PLAY THERAPY seminar and is not included in the Track A program.

Description: 

This portion of the Best Practices in Critical Incident Response for the Workplace training provides comprehensive instruction on how to deliver critical incident response services in the workplace. It also provides hands on simulations of applying critical incident response is various contexts. This will also cover the nature and frequency of critical incidents in the workplace, how to incorporate the ACT model into practice with individuals and workgroups, as well as how to organize the best response to incidents in the workplace. Additional focus will be placed on cultural competency in a workplace setting, and how to promote resiliency and self-care. 

WHY ATTEND THIS TRAINING? 

When tragedy strikes, R3 CONTINUUM (formerly Crisis Care Network) often receives the first call for help about a 1000 times per month. The request for help comes from EAPs, insurers, and employers in communities like yours.   R3 CONTINUUM is proud to have established the nation's largest network of master’s and doctoral level clinicians trained as Critical Incident Response Consultants.   Get trained in this field and become eligible to be part of the network in order to get EAP (Employee Assistance Program) Referrals.

 

Objectives: 

  • Identify the latest research and best practices in critical incident response
  • Demonstrate how to effectively and professionally manage a consulting relationship with an employer seeking critical incident response services.
  • Demonstrate how to conduct on-site critical incident response services including 1:1 supportive interactions, management consultation, educational group briefing and interactive group briefing in the workplace
  • Demonstrate how to deliver critical incident response services with understanding of corporate culture, business objectives, and risk management features.
  • Describe CIR services that support individual and organizational resiliency in functional terms such as return to work and productivity.
  • Identify ethical/legal/confidentiality standards applicable to critical incident response.

 

Presenter: Dennis Potter, LMSW, CAADC, CCS, FAAETS

Dennis Potter, LMSW, CAADC, CCS, FAAETS serves Manager, Consultants Relations & Training at R3 CONTINUUM, formerly Crisis Care Network. He is a licensed social worker and certified addiction counselor. He has received training and supervision in Cognitive Therapy from the Beck Institute in Philadelphia, PA. He has participated in a train the trainer courses in Motivational Interviewing and has provided this training to a variety of mental health, substance abuse agencies and in the business community. He also provides training programs on various topics of mental health issues and treatment approaches, substance use disorders and treatment approaches, and critical incident stress management. Dennis helped to form one of the first community based Crisis Response Teams in the country. He was one of the founding members of the Mid-West Michigan CISM Team and the Michigan Crisis Response Association.

Cancellation Policy: Written cancellation must be received in our office at least ten working days prior to the training. A $25.00 processing fee will be deducted from your refund. Otherwise, a voucher will be given. If you do not notify us a minimum of ten business days prior to the training of your intent to cancel, you will not receive a refund or credit.  

Continuing Education:  

Social Workers/Psychologists/MFCCs CE Hours: 6

NBCC: 6 Clock Hours/0.6 CEUs

CBPS is approved by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners to sponsor Category I continuing education programs; CBPS is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. CBPS solely is responsible for all aspects of the program. NBCC Provider #5763; approved by the National Association of School Psychologists, approval #1067; approved by the Board of Behavioral Sciences in California to offer CEUs for MFCCs and LCSWs. Approval #PCE 1466. CBPS is recognized by SED’s State Board for Social Work in New York as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers (provider #0122). CBPS maintains responsibility for this training.
