Introduction to Entrepreneurship 

If you’re considering becoming a small business owner, you’ll want to attend this seminar to learn what it takes, what challenges and pitfalls you can expect, and what proven steps you can take to greatly increase your chance of success.  In this 2 hour seminar, you’ll explore how to test the feasibility of your idea to ensure it’s the RIGHT one.  You’ll find tips for researching the market and your competitors, securing needed funds, and projecting your business results.   Various legal business entities will be defined, and you’ll learn about resources that can help you with licenses, permits, and other registrations needed for your business.  And hopefully, you’ll leave confident that you’re well positioned to take those critical first steps toward entrepreneurship. 

Speaker Biography
Brent Ehmke retired in 2012 as President of Kidde Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of United Technologies.  Kidde Technologies manufactured fire detection and suppression equipment for  commercial and military aircraft and military vehicles.  It has manufacturing and sales operations in four countries.  Prior to his Kidde role, Brent had other General Management, Marketing and Engineering roles in multinational companies. Over his career, he has been involved in his family’s numerous small businesses.  Since retiring, he has done consulting assignments, obtained his general contractors license in support of his wife’s small business and performs volunteer work.  Brent is a Registered Professional Engineer in North Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin.  He has an MBA and a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
