Reducing Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections in Long-Term Care Facilities
The Agency for HealthCare Research and Quality (AHRQ) in partnership with the American Hospital Association’s Health Research & Educational Trust (HRET) presents a session on Reducing Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections in Long-Term Care Facilities, featuring Dr. Dheeraj Mahajan.
Target Audience:
Administrators, directors of nursing, infection control specialists, nurses, nurse managers, quality management, nurse practice educators/staff development specialists and hospital personnel.
Course Description:
Attendees will gain enhanced knowledge in AHRQ CAUTI reduction strategies with tools and resources available to them. Participants will gain understanding in sustainability of this project using data, antimicrobial stewardship approaches in long-term care and upcoming NHSN requirements.
Presenter: Dheeraj Mahajan, MD
Dr. Mahajan is a dynamic leader making a difference with improving the quality of care to patients served within post-acute care settings. In addition to being president and CEO of an eight-physician medical group practice, CIMPAR, SC, he is medical director of two CMS ranked five-star nursing homes. He also provides quality improvement consulting to several hospitals and an ACO. He is a past member of the board of Telligen, a regional quality review organization.
Dr. Mahajan is an active member of the American Medical Directors Association, the Society of Hospital Medicine, Age Options and is a board member of the Campaign for Advancing Excellence in America’s Nursing Homes. He is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at UIC and teaches in the residency program in internal medicine at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. Additionally, Dr. Mahajan provides consultation on the use of clinical integration and electronic medical information systems.
