Financial Management for IT Services
This session discusses how IT Financial Management (ITFM) guidance and methods apply to an ITSM strategy to better align the IT organization to meet the needs of the business.
The speaker provides a prescriptive approach of how TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), ABC (Activity-Based Costing) accounting disciplines, and ITSM (IT Service Management) practices are used to do IT Service Costing that meets today’s challenges to optimize or reduce spending, while also increasing business demands for services and service levels.
Attendees will take away how IT Service Costing helps to determine the:
- monetized cost and consumption of IT services,
- impact of “belt-tightening” on IT and the business, and
- business demand for technology transformed into high-valued services.

Speaker:
Charles Williams, IT Strategy Practice Leader and
CEO of KEDARit
Charles Williams has over 30 years of professional and leadership experience in the IT industry. Mr. Williams is the IT Strategy Practice Leader and one of the founders at KEDAR Information Technologies. KEDARit is a company that specializes in IT Financial Management SaaS solutions and consulting.
Mr. Williams has held executive leadership positions with IBM, Booz Allen & Hamilton, American Airlines/Sabre Group, and First Horizon Mortgage. He has written articles and books on ITSM, and is a well-known speaker at IT groups and conferences.
Mr. Williams holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Iowa, and certifications in Business Process Engineering and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL),. On the personal side, Charles is a Chicago South-Side native, a US Army Viet Nam Veteran, and spends his spare time working with non-profit organizations, Men’s Ministry in his church, and golfing.
