UNA-USA Dane County Chapter's Anniversary Luncheon: "Madison: A Tale of Two Cities...One Humanity, Shared Responsibility" 

Please join the UNA-USA Dane County Chapter for our annual luncheon on Sunday, October 23rd, 2016 at Monona Terrace. This year’s luncheon: "Madison: A Tale of Two Cities...One Humanity, Shared Responsibility," will feature a keynote address by activist Everett Mitchell, Dane County Circuit Court Judge and Pastor at Christ the Solid Rock Baptist Church.

About the speaker: Everett Mitchell was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Religion from Morehouse College, a Masters of Divinity and Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Law degree from the University of Wisconsin.He serves as Pastor at Christ the Solid Rock Baptist Church and was recently elected as Dane County Circuit Judge.As a religious leader, lawyer and activist, Judge Mitchell has worked in the community with a focus on restorative justice and reducing racial injustices.

This year’s luncheon coincides with the UN Decade for People of African Descent.In proclaiming this decade, the international community is recognizing that people of African descent represent a distinct group whose human rights must be promoted and protected. Around 200 million people identifying themselves as being of African descent live in the Americas. Many millions more live in other parts of the world, outside of the African continent.— UNITED NATIONS
