COURSE DESCRIPTION:

OSHA review should occur annually in all workplaces and workplace specific training must be completed before employees are assigned tasks with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals/materials.   The Globally Harmonized System will be reviewed in relation to the new labeling that has been done worldwide to provide a consistent message on the labeling of chemicals.  Comprehensive record keeping of any workplace incidents is required, along with all follow-up documented.  Safety meetings are recommended to discuss how to avoid potential exposure or workplace accidents to make each environment as safe as possible.

Infection control, including the blood borne pathogens standard training, will be reviewed, along with understanding the disease process.  Risk, modes of transmission and prevention of exposure in the dental environment will be discussed.  An exposure control plan as well as operational safety protocols are an important part of infection control.   Additionally, the CDC guidelines will be discussed and how they relate to OSHA. 2 CEU's will be awarded at the conclusion of the program.

About our Presenter:

Our speaker, Bridget Dorsey, RDH, has a varied background as a clinical dental hygienist, a clinical educator, and has held a manufacturer sales position with Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals and is now a dental distributor representative with Henry Schein Dental.  She is a certified OSHA and Infection Control trainer, certified by HPTC, Inc. - Compliance Training Partners, the leading company in the US for training healthcare professionals.
