A Brain-Based Treatment Approach: Using Neuro-sequential Models to Guide Therapeutic Interventions is a training with Dr. Jerry Yager.

The exposure to abuse or the absence of developmentally-expected stimulation can have a devastating long term impact on a child's immature nervous system. Repetitive developmentally misattuned  interactions with a caregiver, without the opportunity for repair, during sensitive biological periods, can alter the balance of important neuro-chemicals, interfere with the brain's self-organizing processes, and disrupt functioning. An important question that has to be asked is not only what intervention can be implemented to reduce a child's symptoms but how can we provide opportunities to facilitate developmental growth. This workshop will review current neuro-biological and developmental knowledge, offer participants a conceptual model to organize clinical information, and create developmentally sensitive interventions.

Participants will gain: knowledge related to sequential brain development, an understanding between brain development and self-regulatory capacities, and an increase in their skills when applying developmental information in treatment planning.
