Compassionate Listening involves a medley of deep listening skills. In this workshop, international conflict transformation mediator, Bill Jacobson, will introduce techniques such as listening for facts, feelings and core values, listening to understand rather than listening to respond, deepening questions and using triggers for understanding and healing. The workshop is hands-on, practical, and interactive. We will use small and large group discussions, individual reflections, and 'fish bowl' demonstrations.
Bill Jacobsen teaches in the International Peace and Conflict Resolution Masters program at Arcadia University. He is a core facilitator for the The Compassionate Listening Project, with a focus on building communication between Israelis and Palestinians. He has also used the work in Rwanda and at Graterford Prison.
