This workshop includes an analysis of pros/cons of starting your own independent business, pros/cons of buying an existing biz, and pros/cons of doing a start up/existing franchise. It also includes a discussion on the similarities/differences between independent/franchise businesses as well as which model might be more appealing to the individual person, and when a person should recognize NOT to go into any type of business.
Speaker Biography
Dan Prendergast is a Business Coach at The Entrepreneur's Source, which helps individuals explore small business ownership opportunities in franchising. The Entrepreneur's Source does the business development, and are the executive recruiters for approximately 280 of the most successful franchises that exist. These businesses pay us to identify, prepare, and present to them solid and viable potential owners. Dan comes from a successful 24 year career in the hospitality industry where he has been the General Manager of both company owned and franchised Marriott and Hilton Brand hotels. Dan has opened five hotels where he was responsible for organizing and implementing the entire operational and sales teams. This included setting up policy and procedures in each department, operating budgets, total profit and loss accountability, as well as directing all pre/post opening Sales and Marketing functions.
