 Guest Speakers

Karl Vaters is the author of the book, The Grasshopper Myth, and the founder of NewSmallChurch.com, a blog that encourages, connects and equips innovative Small Church pastors. His heart is to help pastors of Small Churches (about 90% of churches) find the resources to pastor their current church well, and capitalize on the unique advantages that come with pastoring a Small Church, something virtually every pastor will spend at least some of their ministry years doing. He also believes that big and small churches can and should work together more often, for mutual benefit. Karl has been in pastoral ministry for over 30 years and has been the lead pastor of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, Fountain Valley, CA, for over 20 years.

Josh Matlock graduated from Talbot Seminary, and spent 9 years on staff at Calvary Church, Santa Ana, until God called him to take the lead pastor role at Bethany Baptist Church, Montclair, in 2008. He has also served on the Transformation Ministries Board for the past 6 years.
Josh and his lovely wife, Kristy, have two sons, ages 12 and 14.

Tate Crenshaw is the lead pastor at LifePoint Church, Banning. He has a passion to lead, teach and equip the local church in fulfilling the Great Commission in his generation. Tate is a graduate of Biola University, with a  B.A. in Biblical Studies, and received his M. Div. in Practical Theology from Talbot School of Theology. Tate has been married to the love of his life, Amie Jo, for 28 years, and has 4 children: Jordan, Austin, Bailey, and Abbey Jo.

Drew Koen has been pastoring Hope Community, Pico Rivera, with his wife Tamara since 1998. Through their leadership, a church of 20 that was ready to close its doors grew into a healthy church of over 350. Hope Community has two services in English, one service in Spanish, and in 2016 moved into a new sanctuary. Drew and Tamara are parents to three children: Shayla, 21, Tyler 18, and Megan 15, all of whom serve with them at Hope.
