About

July 26-29, 2017 in Minneapolis, Minnesota
PLUS July 25th optional Spinning Babies Workshop

Spinning Babies Professional Bodywork Education with

  • Debra McLaughlin, CST, CPM

  • Adrienne Caldwell, LMT

  • Marcello Windolph, FT

  • Gail Tully, Spinning Babies Founder, CPM

Introducing an exciting new educational opportunity for professional medical, birth, and bodyworkers. Gain philosophical and scientific education in craniosacral, fasciatherapy, and integrated manual therapy. Hands-on training focuses on respectful, perceptive touch in pregnancy and birth. Birthworkers who are not also bodyworkers will gain basic skills to enrich your comfort measures for pregnant and birthing people.

Professional bodyworkers, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, Craniosacral Therapists, Massage Therapists, Midwives, Doulas, OBs, Nurses, birth and bodywork professionals of all kinds are all welcome to attend.

Immerse yourself in the Spinning Babies paradigm. Each day includes education, training, and hands-on practice with professional coaching by educators: Debra McLaughlin, Adrienne Caldwell, and Marcello Windolph.  Gail Tully will present Spinning Babies integration for your client communication, services & scope of practice. Infuse your practice protocols with the Spinning Babies approach to pregnancy and birth.

Spinning Babies is developing a new paradigm for birth.

Penny Simkin says, “This is the most exciting thing to come out of birth in decades!”

Gail Tully selected three bodywork experts to share their high level of Spinning Babies integration with bodyworkers who help pregnant people.  Easing birth is more than position and movement. Today, many need hands-on technique to maximize room in the pelvis. Babies follow the space created. Resolve the non-progressing labor and increase pregnancy comfort. Integrate understanding of the innovative approach called Spinning Babies into your practice. Empowering options in physiological birth in all settings and for all providers.

Praise for Spinning Babies 2016 World Confluence:

  • “As a doula and CBE, I have done very little with body work. But the conference  has really opened my eyes to how much not only body, but mind, work/healing can mean in pregnancy and birth. It’s so much more than just “getting baby in position”. I am encouraged to be more mindful and work to connect my hands AND heart with my clients and students. I am excited to attend a SB workshop in the future and put these techniques into practice. But until then, I feel a new confidence in my ability to serve.”
  • “As a chiropractor, it is valuable to have learned the postural work and soft tissue tidbits for my pregnant patients to do both in office and post-adjustment at home.”
  • “…from the Adrienne Caldwell session, I have a whole host of new techniques to try with my patients.”
  • “First and foremost I will be demonstrating to practitioners how to incorporate Deb McLaughlin’s prenatal protocols into their practice.”
  • “New craniosacral techniques for pregnancy and birth” – evaluation from Deb McLaughlin’s CST session
  • “I will become a better body worker. More perceptive.” – evaluation from Marcello Windolph’s session
  • “I will be assessing every patient I work with to determine fetal position and pelvic imbalance…”
  • “I’m going to add a large hands-on component during my childbirth education classes.”
  • “I will definitely be assessing my triage patients for imbalance issues. “
  • “Feeling more confident using my hands”
  • “I intend to take elements that are within my scope from each session I attended.”

We’ve invited three teachers back in 2017 to focus on soft tissue work and sensitive touch for working with pregnant clients. Your service to pregnant women and birth is about to be transformed.

Continuing education credit is being applied for from Minnesota Chiropractic Association and another national bodywork board.
*Most doula organizations will accept these CEUs because it is about pregnancy & birth.
*CPMs can likely use these CEUs.

Professional Bodywork Education Workshop;
The Integral Touch of Birth

We begin each day at 8:30 am and go until to 6 pm.

Lunch from 12:30-2 pm. Lunch with friends in the neighborhood.

Note: Saturday will conclude by 4:00 pm.

  • Wednesday – Saturday: Integral Touch of Birth Workshop. Each day will include a combination of education, training, hands-on practice, and professional coaching by founding educators Debra McLaughlin, Adrienne Caldwell, and  Marcello Windolph. Gail Tully will also work with you to integrate the Spinning Babies paradigm into your client communications and services.
  • Saturday: Integrate your protocols and learn more about Spinning Babies plan for a bodyworker listing.

More about the Workshop:
This workshop is designed to enhance your assessment and skills in craniosacral therapy, myofascial release techniques, and introduce you to the beauty of fasciatherapy. Structural analysis basics will lead into the exploration of several structures of the pregnant person and how their dysfunction may affect fetal position. We will cover an exciting new four-point prenatal assessment protocol for better birth. Techniques to release hypertonic and reinforce hypotonic structures will be presented as well as practice in activating the sphincters and breath to reinforce the structural and fascial connections within the body. Participants will gain confidence in their ability to tune into the inherent wisdom of the body and learn how to gently initiate a release to allow the client’s body to guide the process to better balance.

What is fascia? Marcello Windolph explains:
Fascia envelopes all anatomic structures of the body, connects and links them to a unity. It is not only a structural matrix but also a dynamic communication system that is responsible for maintaining many functions in the body.

Through a specific form of dynamic touch we read the states of tension in the tissue and mobilize and liberate the force of auto-regulation which appears to the hand in the form of a tissue tonicity.

Regaining balance between the inner movement of this force and the matter of the body optimizes embodiment and health. Through a more profound perception the feeling of existence of the client and the relationship to herself improves and thereby the whole relationship that the person has to themselves, the other and the world is touched.

Marcello Windolph, Fasciatherapie

Marcello is a unique Fasciatherapist and Perceptive Educator. He writes:

Marcello’s interest lies in methods of developing perception as a foundation and entrance to bodywork. Having trained first in traditional arts of developing perception in China, he studied close to Danis Bois (founder of Fasciatherapie MDB and Perceptive Education) and the team of researchers, perceptive educators and fasciatherapists.

Marcello would like to share some thoughts on the importance of the relationship between the heart and hand.

This is Marcello’s second trip to the US to share Fascia Therapie and Perceptive Education work among the many gifted therapists coming to the workshop.  Find him often in Amsterdam/Website: marcellowindolph.net

Marcello Windolph is a certified Perceptive Psychopedagogue and Fasciatherapist based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He was a professional musician (MA Double Bass) and has indulged in various forms of bodywork for the past 20 years. Having trained first in traditional arts of healing and ‘developing perception’ in China as a student of the legendary 19th generation Taoist lineage holder and traditional medicine specialist, Wang Liping, Marcello’s passion gradually turned into his Profession.

In 2010 he decided to base his approach in a western scientific method in Europe and became a student of Prof. Dr. Danis Bois (founder of Fasciatherapy MDB and Perceptive Education) at the University in Paris. Marcello has spent the last years focused only on the profession related to bodywork and has gained considerable experience with a wide range of clients. He is equally at home in personal manual therapy sessions as he is teaching and offering seminars in touch and perception for specific fields and professions. In his seminars he has worked with midwives, doulas, dancers, musicians, martial artists, physical performers and has collaborated with physiotherapists in accompanying athletes.

Marcello is currently teaching the 2016-2018 university course of Perceptive Education (Pedagogie Perceptieve) in Paris at the “Centre de Formation Professionnelle en Pedagogie Perceptieve” as the assistant to Dr. Helene Bourhis. He has been teaching and treating in Amsterdam/Netherlands in the past years where he collaborated with the pregnancy centre “Moederakademie” and the local birthworker’s scene, including JJ Doula Trainings. In addition to his activities in and around Amsterdam he has held seminars in Spain, Greece, the Netherlands and Germany.
