The ACYI Partnership works to drive academic achievement, safety and well-being of children and youth from Cradle to Career by leveraging data, community expertise and collaboration using the Continuous Improvement practice to...

  • Measure What Matters
  • Identify Best Practices
  • Spread What Works

Together we CAN!

WHAT?

ACYI is kicking off and will be facilitating an 8th Grade Math Collaborative Action Network (CAN), to function as a collective impact mechanism that brings practitioners and partner organizations together to provide cross-sector coordination of efforts in areas that impact 8th grade math performance.

WHY 8TH GRADE MATH?

With the overarching goal of increasing student achievement and youth safety and well-being in our community, so that our youth can become productive, contributing members of the workforce, ACYI has identified critical points along the cradle to career pipeline which will impact that goal.

Success in 8th Grade Math performance has become an important milestone for high school persistence, academic achievement, post-secondary completion, and general preparedness for the workforce. There is a strong link between mathematics curriculum and post-secondary enrollment.

PURPOSE?

The group will meet quarterly to assess data, identify shared measurements, implement the work required, receive input, enhance resources and support policy alignment to achieve the CAN's goals using the continuous improvement practice.

It is our intent that CAN members have a sense of shared ownership over improvement in the Cradle to Career Outcome area they have aligned to and eventually will be tasked to set targets for The Partnership in moving the needle in 8th grade math performance.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Cross-sector practitioners and individuals who are interested in organizing around 8th grade math and collaborating to increase the success of our youth are invited to join this group.

DESIRED MEETING OUTCOMES?

By the end of the meeting participants will:

  • Understand the purpose of ACYI and Collaborative Action Networks (CANs)
  • Understand community wide 8th grade math performance through data
  • Learn about interventions and strategies that are working to improve 8th grade math outcomes
  • Be inspired and invited to engage in The Partnership to support children and youth outcomes
