Indianapolis Chapter CSI March 2017 Meeting: 

Life Safety (Fire) Dampers

 

The Indianapolis Chapter of CSI is having its March Chapter Meeting at the Willows on Westfield on Thursday, March 16 from 5:30pm-8:30pm.

This month's chapter meeting will be a follow up to the Poynter Sheet Metal facility tour, taking place earlier in the day. The presentation will cover life safety dampers, as well as their various testing methods and accessories. 

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the types of life safety dampers
  • Describe the code classifications and UL labels of fire dampers
  • Describe the proper installation and anchoring of life safety dampers
  • Describe the testing / evaluation of life safety dampers

About the Presenter:

Travis M. Kreft - Senior Application Engineer - Greenheck

Travis Kreft has nine years of experience at Greenheck Fan Corp. within the Tempered Air

Products and Dampers divisions. Mr. Kreft holds a bachelor’s of science degree in Mechanical

Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville. In his time with the Tempered Air

Product division Travis worked closely with the development and application of energy recovery

and make-up air equipment as well as their controls and integration into building management

systems. He has also instructed specialized training for variable frequency drives, air-to-air

energy recovery theory and operation and direct fired make-up air equipment operation and

maintenance in formal Service Training seminars. Since joining the Dampers dept. Travis has

conducted instruction on life safety dampers for Greenheck’s HVAC University professional

design engineer training program. He has also worked closely with engineering design firms on

the application of UL certified dampers in unique and critical industries and environments.
