Understanding and Preparing Basic Financial Statements

financial statements

Learn how to make sense of the basic financial statements that are essential to your success in business.

Whether you are seeking funding for a new start-up, planning a self-financed start-up or working to grow an existing small business, success will require that you understand the basics of accounting and how to prepare and read the Big Three accounting documents - Statements of Profit and Loss (also called the Operating Statements), Balance Sheets and Cash Flow Projections. Basics of Accounting will provide you with this understanding.

The workshop will review basic accounting terms and the concepts they represent and then, using concrete examples, go through the steps involved in preparing and understanding each of the Big Three.

Presented by: William "Mike" Schail

Mike Schail

William Schaill, the presenter, is neither an accountant nor a banker. Rather, he has spent his career launching and operating a number of ventures and, along the way, has spent many hours sitting on the other side of the table, facing the bankers.

Mike is also a published author of six nautical thrillers and hundreds of magazine and newspaper articles on all subjects. He has devoted twenty years to educational publishing; started several other business ventures; is an experienced and avid sailor; and has traveled and raised two daughters.
