Facilitating Effective Criminal Investigations Addressing Sexual Harm

You are invited to apply for a scholarship to attend this two-day training by internationally recognized adolescent sex offender therapist, Joann Schladale, MS, LMFT. Ms. Schladale has been working in the field of interpersonal violence and trauma since 1981. In 1991, as faculty at the University of Louisville, she developed and coordinated the internationally acclaimed Juvenile Sexual Offender Counselor Certification Program. She continues to teach courses focusing on a collaborative approach to stop violence and sexual harm.

This course focuses on optimal investigation to promote successful standardized protocols for responding to youth who cause sexual harm. Law enforcement personnel working in a range of settings are challenged to facilitate clearly defined and structured investigations when faced with allegations of sexual harm by youth. Content includes: practical ways to enhance community safety; understanding vulnerabilities that can lead to sexual harm; information gathering through effective interviewing; organizing and documenting information; and practice skills. Multidisciplinary teams are encouraged to apply for this training.
