Teacher / Mentor Institute (TMI) is a FREE two-day educational workshop for teachers, mentors, and parents who plan to support the Rocky Mountain (RM), Front Range (FR) or Pikes Peak (PP) BEST student teams.

Advanced Training Sessions Thursday, 20 July 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM 

Advanced Training Sessions are 4 FREE training sessions (approximately 1 hour duration each) provided for BEST Robotics Teachers and Mentors with at least one year experience who are planning to support  the Rocky Mountain (RM), Front Range (FR) or Pikes Peak (PP) BEST student teams.

TMI WORKSHOP will include helpful sessions to prepare you for this year's competition, discussion panels with experienced teachers and mentors, and hands-on sessions focusing on fabricating and programming a mini BEST robot. We will highlight recent changes to the competition including judging, kits, rules, engineering notebook, and demographic form. Also, you will receive information on the free available software.

We highly encourage each school to send at least one (1) representative. Three (3) teachers / mentors are allowed to attend per competing team. We recommend that at least one participant be a teacher. The other two participants may be teachers and/or mentors. A parent may be a mentor!  Students are NOT allowed to attend TMI.

• 10:00 AM - 11:45 AM Introduction to a BEST Game
• 12:15 PM -   1:30 PM Student & Peer Panel Discussion
•   1:30 PM -   4:00 PM Introduction to Provided Software & Hardware

FRIDAY - 21 July - schedule details subject to change

Light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Workshop attendees are asked to bring a laptop and basic tools (e.g., electric drill, screwdrivers, wrenches, small saw, scissors, and tin snips) for each school.

ADVANCED TRAINING SESSIONS are provided for BEST teachers and mentors with at least one year of BEST competition experience.  Each session is standalone and you may attend any or all of these sessions.

2. Advanced Engineering Notebook (10:15 AM - 11:45 AM)
3. Introduction to RobotC (1:30 PM - 2:15 PM)
4. Introduction to SolidWorks (2:30 PM - 3:30 PM)

Light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Advanced Training Session attendees are asked to bring a laptop.
