Speaker's Bios:

Thomas (Tom) Cornwell

Tom Cornwell is a retired vice president/general manager (VP/GM) of DRS Sustainment Systems, Inc., one of the largest operating units within the DRS complement of companies headquartered in St. Louis, MO. He was president of the DRS Sustainment Systems Business Segment, after serving for six months as VP/GM of the DRS Sustainment Systems small business unit, formerly part of the Sustainment Systems and Services Group. 

Tom also served five years as President & CEO of Engineered Air Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of Engineered Support Systems, Inc. He has 37 years of experience in the worldwide defense market. He is currently President of Cornwell Associates, LLC, a regional consulting firm. He holds a B.S. degree in Pharmacy from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and a M.B.A. from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. He has been a Missouri registered pharmacist since 1978.

Angie Wells

Angie Wells is an Economic Development Specialist with over 26 years of experience with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). She works for SBA’s St. Louis District Office, which serves the eastern half of Missouri. She serves as the Women’s Business Ownership Representative and the Veterans’ Business Development Officer and is the program manager for the Emerging Leaders initiative. She is also the HUBZone (Historically Underutilized Business Zone) liaison. She provides training on SBA’s programs and services and enjoys talking to entrepreneurs about the many resources available to them at exhibits and networking events.  Angie can be reached at angela.wells@sba.gov or 314-539-6613.

 Gary Alexander

Gary Alexander a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the US Army is a Business Opportunity Specialist for the Small Business Administration where he concentrates on recruiting and managing firms in the 8(a) program.  Prior to joining the Small Business Administration, Gary spent five years as the Director of Purchasing and Contracts for Jefferson College in Hillsboro, MO.  

Gary holds a B.S. in Journalism from Southeast MO State University – Cape Girardeau, MO, Master of Arts in Sociology from Lincoln University – Jefferson City, MO, Masters in Business Administration from Missouri Baptist University – St. Louis, MO and a Masters of Arts – Procurement/Acquisition Management Webster University, St. Louis, MO.
