Certificate in Native Plants - Landscape Design

This course is an elective course and provides 4 hours toward the completion of the Certificate in Native Plants program.

This class will show how ecologically sustainable design principles can be used to combine native plants and other resources in artful ways that resonate with our natural surroundings. First, students will review the steps required to complete a thorough site analysis. Following site analysis, they will look at the structure, seasonal interest, and versatility of a wide range of native trees, shrubs, vines, grasses, and wildflowers suited for use in our area. The class will include the hands-on experience of developing a base plan into a well thought out design.

Instructor:  Daniel Talley holds a B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Design from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with an emphasis in Public Horticulture.  He is actively involved in garden design, project and estate management, native nursery management, and ecological restoration.  Daniel designs sustainable landscapes from traditional to native for a wide range of clients- commercial, governmental, and residential.  He has a broad knowledge of native plants, the local communities that they thrive in, and their uses in the landscape.

Registration Policy:  As with all Certificate in Native Plants classes, class size is limited.  To give everyone the best opportunity to participate, there is a non-refundable cancellation fee of $10, with the balance refunded if you cancel at least 7 calendar days before the class will be held.  If the class is cancelled by the instructor or the CNP program, registrants will get a full refund.

If you do not pay online, you will need to mail your check to Wild Ones-Tennessee Valley Chapter, 4918 Marlow Drive, Red Bank, TN 37415.  Please put the date of the program in the memo line as well as the last name of the person you are registering.  You will not be registered until your payment is received.
