Indianapolis Chapter CSI August 2017 Meeting: 

Understanding and Improving Indoor Air Quality

 

The Indianapolis Chapter of CSI is having its August Chapter Meeting at the Willows on Westfield on Thursday, August 17 from 5:30pm-8:30pm.

Sustainable buildings now address indoor air quality (IAQ) to enhance the comfort of building occupants. The course focuses on airborne pollutants and chemicals associated with adverse health effects. Participants will be able to identify common contaminants and design appropriate remediation strategies, as well as identify emerging product capture technologies.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the relationship between indoor environmental quality (IEQ) and Indoor air quality (IAQ)
  2. Identify common indoor air contaminants and describe their adverse effects.
  3. Describe how to improve IAQ using different remediation strategies
  4. Understand the sources fo volatile organic compounds and formaldehyde gas, as well as describe the different contaminant capture technologies available in the marketplace. 

About the Presenter:

Jennifer R. Friedland, CertainTeed

Jennifer Friedland has been working in the building products industry since 1997, after graduating from Michigan State University with a BA in Interior Design.  She has built a reputation as a respected leader among distribution partners and suppliers within the Midwest and has a solid base of supporters industry wide.  She considers herself an expert in the technical and conceptual development for solid surface and quartz materials, and enjoys interfacing with the architectural and design community as a consultant for commercial projects.  Jennifer prides herself with the ability to maintain relationships with contractors, sub trades, and transactional partners involved within the construction value chain.

Working for the well known distributer H.J. Oldenkamp Company was the spring board for Jennifer’s career in the commercial construction industry.  She began as Specification Representative in the Michigan market and concluded as the Commercial Sales Manager.  Her primary responsibility was to develop and enforce company strategy, vision and policy for the Michigan market.

Parksite in Illinois was Jennifer’s professional home until 2011 and she always looked forward to progressive ideas formed within the walls of this fast paced company.  She was part of the commercial outside sales department and proudly represented Dupont products among other premium brands. 

Surfacing materials became a subject of the past as Jennifer looked forward to her latest endeavor in CertainTeed’s Gypsum division. Acting as an Architectural Solutions Manager for gypsum is one of the most fulfilling roles she aspired to; contributing in the development for sustainable habitats.

Becoming LEED GA certified is one of Jennifer’s latest accomplishments and has assisted in deepening her passion for environmental stewardship in the building industry, along with her personal agenda for green living.  Her latest achievement in the industry is obtaining her CDT.
