The Art of Negotiating

Thursday November 2 at 6:30 PM

Each day we are involved in negotiations at our work place and in our personal life when we try to influence others to achieve personal and professional objectives. We negotiate with our family on where to go on vacation or with our kids over who will cut the lawn, often without recognizing these situations as negotiations. As a result, we may not handle them as effectively as we should. This workshop will discuss how to identify these situations and manage them more effectively by applying negotiation principles to them.

Specific Learning Objectives:

  • What is win-win negotiating and why it is important to learn negotiation skills
  • What are the four critical pillars of conducting successful negotiations?
  • Is it really important for you to win and the other party to lose in negotiations?
  • How to deal with people when they take firm positions on some issues.
  • Why it is important to talk less & listen more in negotiations
  • Should you make the first offer or accept one when made to you?
  • What is leverage in negotiations, how to gain it and when to use it
