HealthInsight Nursing Home Resident Safety Collaborative, Learning Session 3 - Salt Lake City 

You are invited to Learning Session3 of the 2017-2018 HealthInsight Nursing Home Resident Safety Collaborative. This learning session is focused on staff empowerment. Topics include the importance of staff empowerment and its benefits to a safety conscious culture, strategies for empowering staff and helping them find joy in the workplace, as well as addressing the changing needs of our resident populations. The session will provide time for participants to discuss these topics in small groups in an all-teach-all-learn environment. The session will also allow teams to craft an action plan for implementing staff empowerment and performance improvement activities for the coming quarter.

Objectives: Participants will be prepared to:

  1. Discuss how staff empowerment contributes to a culture of resident safety, leading to improved outcomes and quality of life
  2. Explain how to address and overcome challenges to staff empowerment
  3. Illustrate ways to increase staff empowerment and Joy in Work
  4. Identify steps that can be implemented to improve staff empowerment in working with special populations

 Who should attend: Nursing home administrators, directors of nursing, quality improvement leaders, corporate leadership, state survey agencies, trade associations, patient safety commission and other stakeholders.
