Topic 1 - Smart Way to Write a Marketing Plan

Whether you are starting a new business or expanding an existing business, a written marketing plan is a MUST. In the workshop, you will learn to;

  • find research resources 
  • identify your target customers and competitors 
  • price your products and services
  • develop a BRAND image and Unique Selling Proposition (USP)
  • develop your marketing message 
  • prepare marketing materials 
  • use low cost methods for promoting your business 
  • write a marketing budget  

Presenter: Jeffrey D. Jones, ASA, CBA, CBI
Jeff is President of Certified Appraisers, Inc., where he manages the firm's multidiscipline appraisal practice that includes valuation of businesses, machinery & equipment and real estate. He and his staff have been involved in the sale of over one thousand small and midsize businesses since 1976.

Jeff is the co-editor of two books published by John Wiley & Sons: “Handbook of Business Valuation” and "Mergers and Acquisitions Handbook for Small and Midsize Companies". 

Topic 2 - Recruiting and retaining quality employees

In most businesses, employees are the most important and vital resource. Recruiting and retaining quality employees is a challenge all companies face in order to be competitive. So is complying with a growing number of laws, regulations and best practices.  In the workshop you will learn how to find, hire, and retain the best employees and the different tools/resources available that will help you perform the tasks required in human resources.

Cheryl has more than 30 years of business management experience, including 20 of those years working for several small and mid-sized companies and more than 10 years running her own firm. Those positions afforded her a client’s perspective and appreciation for high quality service. She advised and helped small businesses improve and manage their business.
