 2018 Tax Update

Speaker:
Daniel T. Staszak, CPA, MS
Staszak & Company

Description:
It has been said that two things are certain - death and taxes. And while it may be true that we will always have to pay taxes, the laws that govern how we pay taxes can seem far from certain. Join us for our first meeting in 2018 where Dan Staszak will cover the following:
  • A summary of winners and losers - who pays more and who pays less?
  • What's new? Specific law changes that affect almost every taxpayer.
  • Tax Reform and its impact on investment income and deductions.
  • Tax law changes affecting real estate owners and investors.
  • Major changes to taxation of business income. And how does this impact the choice of business entity?
  • Enhancements to Section 179 and bonus depreciation.
  • California tax law changes.
  • Tax planning opportunities and challenges after Tax Reform, including tax planning ideas for you and your clients
The goal with current tax reform, as it was in the 80s, was an appeal to simplify the tax code and make the application of taxes more "fair."  Mission accomplished?  Good question.....let's find out!
