Recycling CO2 in Masonry Block
Presented by: CarbonCure - Neal Heiser
1 AIA LU | HSW
Learn about recycling waste carbon dioxide to make greener masonry.
Kentucky’s largest masonry producer, Lee Brick and Block and their subsidiary Southland Brick and Block, have partnered with CarbonCure Technologies to be the first in their market to offer masonry made with recycled CO2 in Tennessee and Kentucky. As first to market, Lee will be accelerating the green building market in their areas by giving local architects, engineers, and building owners alternatives to build greener on their construction projects.
CarbonCure upcycles carbon dioxide into concrete masonry products. “Upcycling” means collecting carbon dioxide (CO2) from industrial emitters and injecting it into masonry products during manufacturing to make better products. The result is that the CO2 is permanently embedded within the concrete masonry thereby becoming “mineralized” within the concrete.
