With Heather Holm
Author of Pollinators of Native Plants
Ms. Holm is the keynote speaker at the Plant Natives 2018 Symposium on March 17, 2018. Please consider registering for the Symposium by visiting tennesseevalley.wildones.org
While the most recognized bee is the European honey bee, native bees have very different needs where providing them with an adequate amount of food and places to nest in our managed landscapes is critical for their survival.
Heather will discuss design considerations, plant selection, and landscape maintenance strategies to support and attract native bee populations. She will also provide specific examples of habitat needs for several genera of bees.
Research demonstrating the importance of connectivity and the role that urban and suburban landscapes can play in supporting diverse native bee populations will also be covered.
This seminar is a presentation of the Tennessee Valley Chapter of Wild Ones. It will provide more detailed information about designing and managing landscapes than Heather's talk at the Saturday, March 17 Symposium.
Cost: $30 (general public); $25 (Wild Ones members)
