Funding Fundamentals & Financial Statements Simplified

If you are an entrepreneur of a start-up or small business contemplating your funding needs, it is critical you understand financial statements.   If you have only a limited knowledge of finance or simply want a refresher along with an overview of funding options, this workshop is for you.

Funding Fundamentals & Financial Statements Simplified provides a straightforward overview of the various types of financing available to small businesses, ranging from friends and family contributions to bank loans. 

Plus, it gives attendees a basic understanding of the 3 main financial statements: the Profit & Loss statement (aka P&L);  the Balance Sheet;  Cash Flow Statements.  These tell the story of your business and are important reference points as you manage your business, allocate resources and present the business to external stakeholders (e.g., bankers, investors).

Instructor: Pat Hines

Pat Hines had a 40-year career as a commercial banker in a variety of management positions at Wells Fargo, Bank of America and community banks.  As a former chief credit officer and lender, he knows how to listen closely to the needs of startups, as well as businesses of all sizes, and is expert at simplifying and solving financial matters. This has resulted in a long history of helping clients achieve success.

Pat is a current or former Board Member for numerous for-profit and non-profit organizations, including Goodwill industries Southern California, Queenscare and St. Joseph Healthcare Alliance.

Instructor: Steve Wright

Steve Wright is a consultant with over three decades of public and private company experience.  He has served as CFO for six companies, applying his financial expertise in a wide range of industries, including aerospace, defense, telecom, industrial, alternative energy, and environmental waste. In addition, Steve has significant fund raising experience, including debt, venture capital, public equity and the execution of a successful IPO.
