How To Start Your Own Business – A 10 Step Overview 

We will help you take the guesswork out of starting your business. In our workshop you will get an overview of all the essential information you will need to decide:

  1. What it takes to be an entrepreneur;
  2. Your entity choices,
  3. Your legal considerations,
  4. What licensing you will need,
  5. What insurance you will need,
  6. Key aspects of creating a business plan,
  7. Key aspects of creating a marketing plan,
  8. Understanding your financial statements,
  9. Where to find funding,

10.  How to choose the right people for your team.

This workshop will help you make decisions about proceeding with your business idea.  It is intended to making you more comfortable with the uncertainty and worry of taking that step. This workshop provides an overview so you can decide which topics you want to explore in more detail in subsequent workshops.

 At the end of this workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the differences between being an employee and being a business owner.
  • Understand the basic steps involved in starting a business.
  • Know how to build a team to have the right foundation to start a business.

Workshop Presenters Names:  Irene Flack and Ray Snipes

Irene Flack worked for many years in commercial lending for a community bank, including SBA and other small business lending. She helped structure loans and lines of credit for business owners, reviewing financial statements, leases, insurance, and various other documents in the process. She is currently a business attorney working with small business owners on everything from entity formation to selling the business.

For most of his career Ray Snipes worked in a variety of management positions with two large companies in the automotive aftermarket.  He owned and managed a small business for several years and also taught high school English.
