Understanding Intellectual Property

With Cliff Ennico, Attorney and Author

Monday, April 23, 2018, 7:00-8:30pm

Most small businesses don't have "hard assets" such as machinery and equipment anymore. For many small businesses in knowledge industries, the key assets go home every night and the company value lies in "intellectual property" such as patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and other intangibles. In this fast-paced, entertaining program, you will be introduced to the "real world" of intellectual property and learn how to manage these intangible assets, including:

  • The difference between trademarks and copyrights
  • How to protect your "trade secrets" from theft or appropriation.
  • The "word made for hire" doctrine - when it applies, when it doesn't, and..
  • How to put a value on your intangible assets.

Attorney, author, syndicated columnist, speaker, television personality and humorist, Cliff Ennico is widely considered one of America's foremost small business experts. An attorney by training, Cliff has represented over 15,000 small business and early-stage technology companies in his 37-year career and runs his own law and small business consulting practice in Fairfield, CT. He has authored 16 books for entrepreneurs, small business owners and professionals and writes a nationally syndicated business advice column "Succeeding in Your Business."
