Research suggests that parents pass their own attachment styles on to their children about 70 to 80% of the time. This presentation will help you recognize clues to parents’ attachment styles and identify the obstacles for parents with a non-secure style. Learn what to reasonably expect, tips for gaining trust and providing insight, and how and when to involve parents in their own therapeutic work.

Part 3: He's Pushing My Buttons!...Helping Parents Disconnect the Wires to Their Emotional Triggers

Parents often lack insight into their own triggers and assume their reactions to be natural. Learn language that is both direct and respectful to parents of the children in your practice. Develop creative strategies for helping them disconnect the wires to their triggers during parent meetings and family therapy sessions. Learn more intensive approaches for parents stuck in unresolved trauma.
