Overview

Most small businesses today depend on their web presence to jump start and enhance their brand. There are many tools and techniques available to business owners that enable them to build their own website and implement an effective and flexible e-commerce.  

This workshop will provide an overview of some key resources, such as WordPress and e-commerce applications. It will summarize ways to enhance your chances to be found when a potential customer/client searches Google and other search engines. It will cover a demonstration of WordPress, a publishing software application that helps you to construct your own website on line. 

The session will cover an overview of Magento and other e-commerce applications and will include an analysis of free vs. paid e-commerce applications, and branding/reputation management.

At the end of this workshop you will be able to:

• List the criteria for selecting the appropriate web-building application for your business, including the pros and cons of paid vs. free
• Discuss how to promote your own website based on your target audience and your industry
• Describe ways to optimize search engine results to draw them to your website and on-line listings
• Generate strategies to manage the perception of your brand and reputation on-line
