Meet Doug Steele

Workshop Presenter

As an honors graduate of Bellarmine University, Doug hit the ground running and quickly became a success in the banking business in New York, serving as a commercial loan officer and a marketing manager. After arriving in Lexington he became President of Interspace, Limited until it was successfully sold after 19 years.

In 1991 he organized an investor group to acquire a Lexington based wholesale distributor, serving as CEO of this business for the next 16 years. Doug joined with his cousin Butch Baird in forming Mountain Metals Manufacturing Corp.. With Baird serving as CEO Mountain Metals grew to $30M in 10years and was successfully sold.

While he was a wholesale distributor he developed a market differentiation strategy including conducting basic financial seminars for their retail entrepreneurial customers. This seminar has been enhanced over the years and presented to various groups in Lexington, including Commerce Lexington and the Gatton School at University of Kentucky. For three years he was Financial Analyst for UK's Innovation & Commercialization Center, working with early stage and startup companies on their business plans, forecasts and funding. He started SteeleMetrics.com in 2012. Doug is an eloquent and colloquial speaker and it is a pleasure to listen to him speak. His sense of humor transforms a factual and complicated topic such as accounting and makes it fun and easy to understand.
