Psychotherapy – Mindfulness, meditation, yoga & CBT – practical applications

Explore correlations between CBT, meditation, mindfulness, yoga practices and their role in the psychotherapeutic process.

The tremendous upsurge in popularity of Yoga, meditation, mindfulness, CBT, and the concept of the Egoic-Mind Paradigm (EMP) are making it a necessity for psychotherapists to be educated and knowledgeable about these growing trends. In this 3-credit workshop clinicians will be introduced to some of the latest state-of-the-art applications for incorporation into their psychotherapeutic practices.

Experiential exercises, practical suggestions, concrete examples, and case studies for determining diagnosis will be reviewed.

Educational Objectives:

—  Clinicians will be able to articulate an understanding of the relationship between yoga, mindfulness, meditation & CBT.

—  Clinicians will review both contemporary literature and Buddhist concepts of the Egoic-Mind Paradigm.

—  Receive practical applications and overview of the Mindfulness and CBT trends.

—  Clinicians will be able to discuss with, determine efficacy of, and potentially apply and/or teach simple, yet profound spiritual healing practices to their patients.

—  Overcome hesitation to incorporate spiritually-oriented practices into psychotherapy practice.

—  Learn simple exercises that will quickly and effectively elevate clients (and practitioners) mood and consciousness, i.e., “connecting” and “grounding” techniques.

—  Receive handouts, glossary of terms, and suggested reading list.
