This interactive workshop for business owners moving from a sole proprietorship to employing staff to grow the business. 

Topics covered and templates you will receive include:

  • Developing job descriptions and performance expectations

  • Motivating and training employees
Workshop objectives are to increase your understanding of the role of a manager, to improve your understanding and skills in preparing job descriptions, interviewing potential hires, and to enable you to motivate and retain employees.

      3. Benefits to working for small employer – have an impact, flexibility, opportunity, etc.
    4. Retaining and motivating employees
      1. Setting clear expectations
      2. Feedback – informal and formal (30 – 60 – 90)
      3. Developing employees (adult learning and situational leadership)

Expert Facilitators

Pat Doody is former Human Resource Director for Burgess and Niple, a national civil engineering firm.  As Human Resource Director, she was responsible for hiring employees and developing programs to retain them.  She has a broad background in human resources, with expertise in organizational development, management and leadership training, and coaching.


Leslie Kulis is a former director of sales operations and customer service organizations where she implemented training programs for over 100 people.  She reduced the turnover rate from 35% to 5% in the customer service organization in two years by setting clear expectations and implementing training programs.  Leslie has a broad background in mentoring others in many areas.
