Ms. Capotosto is the co-author of State of the Science: Implicit Bias Review. This presentation provides an overview of implicit bias, its impact on behavior and bias mitigation strategies.

Liz OuYang, Coordinator, New York Counts 2020

Ms. Capotosto describes the multifaceted ways in which unconscious associations can create unintended outcomes across multiple fields including education, health, criminal justice, and child welfare.

Ms. OuYang, a civil rights attorney for three decades, provides a current day example of institutional bias being played out with the 2020 Census and describes the impact it may have on children and families in each community of the state.

john a. powell, Director, Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society

Professor powell is an internationally recognized expert in the areas of civil rights, civil liberties and a wide range of issues including race, structural racism, ethnicity and poverty. He is one of the world’s most important thinkers and scholars on civil and human rights. In this presentation, Professor powell explores how we can better understand the spaces we currently inhabit and addresses how to co-create alternative spaces where real healing can truly begin.
