Intro:

Half of all new businesses fail in the first year.  Of those who survive, half of those will have closed their doors before Year #5.  Most entrepreneurs who start a business are good at their own product or service, but don't have the knowledge and/or expertise to manage everything it takes to run a business.  Many don't even know enough to know what they don't know! This workshop will provide you with an arsenal of practical ammunition to arm you for success!

Synopsis:

This all-day boot camp features a full roster of experts in their fields who will discuss all of the aspects of running a business and the obstacles to avoid that a fledgling or aspiring entrepreneur should consider, helping you to build a foundation for success.  You will hear from:
  • An attorney discussing the various legal business structure options with their advantages and disadvantages;
  • An accountant/CPA who will cover how to set up your books, and tax issues to keep in mind;
  • A banker who will talk about the various banking products available to businesses, and financing options;
An insurance agent who will go over the types of insurance you need to protect you, your employees, and your business;
  • Su Hartung who is a Active Member of SCORE Fox Valley will discuss the importance of putting together a business plan, as well as the resources available through SCORE for Entrepreneurs';
  • Two marketing consultants who will expose you to marketing do's and don'ts and strategies, as well as what's hot in promotional products, to help you get your business "out there"
  • A representative from the library who will provide an overview of the multitude of free resources available to local businesses;
  • An experienced business leader who will guide you through a discussion on self-assessment to discover your own personal aptitude for running your own business.
Lunch and afternoon snack will be provided
